For those reading this... my name is Linzie. I have had a TON of weight issues for most of my life. I would like to attest it to PCOS, but I also know that my eating was WEIGH off (haha, see what I did there?).
People always told me that its 80% nutrition, 20% exercise. Well, I kept thinking that 20% was somehow 200%. I ran, was in a boot camp, ran some more, tried all types of DVD workouts, and it just wasn't helping.
Then, I lost the weight, gained it, lost it, gained it... the typical yoyo diets. I was never completely happy with myself, hated seeing pictures of myself, and was just so tired all the time. Then, my husband and I tried to get pregnant. Wow... that's a whole other story... But, years and months of fertility meds, two IUIs, and nothing... well... a TON of weight gain. We decided to stop, and then my friend Lisa contacted me a few months later, ironically while I was creating a grocery list, and said, "Hey! Have you heard of Keto? I have read many success stories of women with PCOS getting pregnant because they changed their diet to Keto." My friend Lisa is one of the people I really talk to about my fertility. I love her story and how she is so open with others, and she has really helped me get through some hard times.
So, thats when it began... October 18. Now, over a month later, I haven't looked back.
My advice when getting started:
1. Have a friend that will always be there when you need them and who understands the Keto way of eating (WOE).
2. Make long term and short term goals! (My long term: if I lose 50 pounds my husband is going to take me to Disney World! We will see... I know I will hold up my end of the bargain).
3. Celebrate the non-scale victories (NSV). Your gravitational pull/what the scale says should not be the most important thing. Think about the changes in your body... you will see your skin lightening up, your pants fitting a little looser, and your energy sky rocket! Celebrate that!
4. Try LOTS of recipes and don't get stuck on one food for forever. You really can eat a lot of different foods.
5. Be prepared to not be hungry. And when you aren't hungry, don't eat!
Now, I am NOT a doctor... but I will tell you that when I told my doctor that I was in ketosis, she gave me two thumbs up and said to keep up the good work. I am so thankful to Lisa, who shared this WOE with me... and I hope to help others by sharing lots of yummy foods and success stories on this blog!
